Introductory and Advanced SCERTS
training
Dr. Barry Prizant
This year we are fortunate to have Dr. Barry Prizant coming
to Billings, Montana, to present introductory and advanced
SCERTS training. To have him come to this region is wonderful,
and we are offering this workshop at a cost that is less than
typical to encourage people to take advantage of this
opportunity. Parents, teachers (regular and SPED), SLP’s, aides,
administrators, and school psychologists would all benefit. No
matter what the program that you are implementing, you would
benefit from hearing him speak, as you will gain insights that
will improve your assessment and intervention.
SCERTS examines the roles of Social Communication,
Emotional
Regulation, and Transactional
Support. For each of these areas,
he examines different levels, including how to assess the level
at which the student is functioning and how to intervene
successfully to make the progress we would like to see. The
SCERTS model is well researched and its effectiveness has been
shown. Dr. Prizant is one of the developers of the SCERTS model
and is an internationally recognized author and presenter in the
field of autism. Those attending will find him to be informative
and personable. . .he is passionate about providing the most
effective interventions possible to children with autism.
Besides the obvious benefits that participants will gain
(increased assessment and intervention skills), there is the
added bonus of coming to Billings with its close proximity to
Red Lodge, the Beartooth Mountains, Yellowstone Park, camping,
and world class fishing. Add a little more time and Glacier
National Park could be on the agenda! (AND the flight to
Billings would be deductable.)
ASHA CEUs and MT Office of Public Instruction CEUs will be
available. As an added bonus, one graduate credit will be
available to participants. Cost for the 3-day Introductory and
Advanced SCERTS certification training is $325, a figure that is
below what is typically charged in the hopes that people
(parents and professionals) will take advantage of this
opportunity.

Billings is a great city. Come and enjoy the workshop; then
vacation in all the beauty that is Montana!
