Speech-language pathologists and audiologists working in the school system must obtain a license from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) as a Special Service Provider. Licensure or certification from DORA is only necessary if the clinician provides additional services outside of the school system.
The progression is from an initial license to a professional license. Both in-state and out-of-state applicants apply for an initial license. The cost is $80.00 and expires in 3 years. The special service provider can then apply for a professional license with appropriate documentation. The cost is $80.00 and expires in 5 years.
What are the requirements for CDE licensure?
