Using Mobile Technology
in Speech Therapy:

iApplications for Improving Speech Outcomes

This hands-on workshop will offer strategies for speech pathologists to implement iTechnology (iPads, iPhones, iPods) in a variety of therapy settings, including:

• device use and management, built-in features, logistics, and accessibility
• app consideration and selection strategies
• intervention and implementation ideas

Participants will have an opportunity to work in small groups to explore apps and discuss strengths and challenges as well as implementation ideas. Resources and handouts provided will include app reviews, use cases, resources for free apps, and more!
This workshop is for those with limited experience. Participants will leave the session with the knowledge and comfort to begin using the iPad. The presentation will be intervention-based, with a wide range of therapy ideas explored.

Learner Outcomes:

 Identify strategies for evaluating strengths and challenges of using the iPad for speech therapy
 Evaluate apps that they are considering to determine if they are a good fit for their needs.
 Identify resources to help evaluate apps that might be useful.
 Implement the iPad in therapeutic settings
