Scholarship Program

Consistent with its primary mission, the CSHF developed a scholarship program supported by donations and fundraising efforts as well as a healthy fund of investment dollars. The scholarship program has grown and currently seeks to fund CSHF Scholars from the three Colorado university graduate level programs to support their commitment to completing a graduate MA- SLP, AuD, or a PhD program.

These competitive scholarships are in honor of Elizabeth G. Jancocek, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of Speech and Hearing Science, who for many years mentored and taught students at the University of Colorado, Boulder as well as the University of Northern Colorado. She is fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion of all students. She spent her energy in recruitment and mentorship of linguistically diverse students, knowing they were sorely needed to serve the increasing numbers of minoritized, culturally and linguistically diverse children and adults with communication challenges and their families. She was known for excellence in teaching, and for her kindness, fairness, and care for fellow faculty and students alike.

The CSHF continues this scholarship program to recognize her endless contributions to the professions at the state and national level. These scholarships are a tribute to her care and concern for each student who knocked on her door wanting just to talk or who needed advice, her shared wisdom and laughter, and her “modeling the way” for future professionals through commitment to research, scholarship and engagement in our professions.

Since 2009, through the Elizabeth G Jancosek Graduate Student Scholarship program, CSHF has awarded 22 scholarships totaling over $17,000.  This scholarship program is supported by donations and fundraising efforts, in addition to its investment dollars.

Applications for the Elizabeth G. Jancosek Scholarship program are typically available in the spring with a June deadline. This timeline is meant to accommodate graduate students who are continuing their studies and those at the start of their program.

To obtain an application and instructions for the scholarship please contact Jen Carter at  jennifercarter@mindspring.com.
