Education Update:
We are happy to announce that the Conference will be held at the Parker Arts, Culture and Event Center this year. Out of town attendees are free to choose their own accommodations this year. Additional information on nearby hotels will be provided soon. As Conference planning is ramping up, we are solidifying details on some highly accredited speakers! Keep an eye out for “speaker reveals” soon.
Thank you for submitting your speaking proposals to the call for papers- now we are ready to receive proposals for poster sessions. Students are more than welcome to present! To submit a poster presentation, visit https://www.cshassoc.org/member-login/#/call-for-papers. The information needed to submit a presentation proposal includes the following: Speaker disclosure, email, and bio for each presenter, product disclosure, abstract and learner outcomes. Deadline for poster presentations is Wednesday, August 31st.

- A new claims requirement is set to go in effect on July 1, 2022. This regulation requires that claims for speech therapy and audiology services MUST have the referring provider NPI number. For policy details, please visit https://hcpf.colorado.gov/opr-claims.

Job Opportunities:
ESSU: Speech-Language Specialist
This Principal Consultant position is with the Access, Learning, and Literacy Team. The position is responsible for serving as the state consultant on speech/language impairment with responsibilities to: (a) provide universal, targeted, or intensive professional learning and technical assistance to speech/language pathologists, speech-language pathology assistants or other professionals serving students with communication disorders; (b) manage and direct the activities of the Speech-Language Advisory Committee (c) be knowledgeable about federal and state guidelines for school-based speech-language services; and (d) collaborate with other ESSU personnel on issues specific to school-based speech-language services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, manage, and implement an approved annual budget of leadership, professional learning, and statewide TA activities to (a) support accurate identification of students with disabilities with a specific on students with speech language impairment and (b) provide universal, targeted, and intensive level assessment, service strategies, and progress monitoring and outcome measures for school personnel working directly with children or youth who have communication disorders.
Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC)
CCDC is pleased to announce The Young Emerging Leaders for Disability Power program that will begin in August of 2022. As the premier organization for disability rights in Colorado, we have been a powerful voice in advocating for basic civil and human rights for people with all types of disabilities. Our efforts have improved the lives of over 500,000 disabled Colorado residents and their loved ones in various ways. We recognize that it is time to begin activating and preparing our younger generations to lead the disability rights movement thus, the development of The Young Emerging Leaders for Disability Power program.

The program is tailored to provide advocacy and leadership centered training and opportunities for Colorado’s youth, specifically high school students. SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST for SCHOOL DISTRICT 27J
Works under the general direction of the Special Education Department and/or the Principal of the assigned school(s) to provide appropriate services emphasizing the educational components that are necessary for planning and providing access to the general education curriculum for students who are identified as speech and/or language impaired. This is a full-time, or 1.0 FTE position with benefits.
District 27J follows a 4 day school week, working Tuesday-Friday (and 1 half day per month on a Monday). Also, contracts for next year in the final stages will include a 6% salary increase to the base pay. There are currently 30+ SLPs- a wealth of knowledge and resources to share.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform comprehensive, educationally relevant, evaluations for students suspected of or at risk of a communication disorder, including articulation, fluency, voice, language, communication, as defined under IDEA eligibility guidelines
2. Implement evidence-based practices to support the district’s efforts within the RTI model to promote academic success in the district’s approved curriculum
3. Participate in the review of data with other members of an IEP team to inform appropriate instruction and interventions based on student identified needs
4. Case Manage students identified as Speech Language only for the purposes of the IEP process as identified within the 27J Staff Procedural Guidelines
5. Collaborate with school, parents, teachers, special support personnel, and relevant community agencies and professionals to ensure delivery of appropriate services to promote academic success
6. Complete Medicaid billing procedures for services provided to eligible students on a monthly basis
7. Adequately and appropriately document and record therapy sessions for progress monitoring and Medicaid billing purposes
8. As directed by Special Education Department may be asked to supervise a Speech Language Assistants hired to support students within the district
9. May be asked to provide supervision to individuals completing their ASHA certification and/or their University program practicum hours
10. As directed by Special Education Department and/or building Administrator, provide Professional Development to school staff and/or parents given individual expertise in communication and language
Education and Experience Required:
- Must hold or be eligible for a Special Services License with the Colorado Department of Education
- Requires a MA in Communication Disorders or Speech Language Pathology and passing the Praxis II Speech Language Pathology exam to secure a Special Services License
- Must have ASHA certification or be eligible within 1 yr of hire date
- Prefer applicant with experience working in a school setting, but not required

The Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering is hiring! We are seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist, Early Childhood Special Educator, Special Educator, Physical Therapist, or Occupational Therapist. This position will work to support Project Include: Early Childhood Access through Adaptive Technology which helps licensed Colorado child care programs use assistive technology to develop early learning environments that are more inclusive for all children, including those with delays and disabilities.
